Want to get more involved?

Our union is self organising and relies upon members working together to resolve their workplace issues collectively with training and support.

The banner of Westminster UNISON allows you to voice your workplace concerns without the fear of victimisation or reprisal. A collective voice is always far more effective than acting individually and produces positive changes to workplace conditions. Management recognise the benefits of having a unionised workplace as very often our input leads to more effective reorganisations, policies and grievance resolutions.

Branch Officers

The Branch Executive is made up of elected officers who oversee and steer the policy and objectives of the union. The Branch Executive members provide one of the main sources of advice and support and are the most important link between the union and members like yourself. Elections for these positions take place annually between January and Febrary.

Stewards

A UNISON steward is an elected rep who helps organise, recruit and represent members in their workplace.

Health and Safety Representatives

A UNISON health and safety rep helps to make sure that people's jobs and their workplaces do not cause injury or ill-health.

Want to meet new people, learn new skills and go places?

Be active in UNISON and you'll get a lot more out of your union. Getting involved means:

  • Helping make a difference
  • Getting together with work friends and colleagues and meeting new people
  • Doing things you usually couldn't or wouldn't do alone
  • New opportunities for education, training and personal development
  • Helping yourself and improving your life at work, home and the wider world
  • Having fun and doing something you enjoy
