Council Leader demonstrates reverse "Midas touch"

The only way is up: performance at Alpha Strategic takes a dive The only way is up: performance at Alpha Strategic takes a dive

Cllr Colin Barrow has shown that Westminster Council isn't the only organisation that he's associated with that is having financial difficulties.

WCC Leader Colin Barrow is also a director of hedge fund Alpha Strategic, & if the graph above is anything to go by it looks like they may be heading for trouble. Hedge funds are usually associated with huge profits & many have actually increased profitability even during the current financial crisis. Not so Alpha Strategic, but at least you could say that their recent performance has been consistent. What must fellow director Kit Malthouse (remember him?) think of the situation?

But before we start congratulating him, let's remember that Colin has previous form. He was a director of now insolvent firm Eiger Capital, which went out of business allegedly owing WCC approximately £20K in unpaid business rates!

Those of you facing the prospect of having your job made redundant as the Council struggles to cope with its financial problems must be feeling relieved that Colin is at the helm during these difficult times. With his track record the future of WCC is surely in safe hands...
