The union has also sent a letter of protest to the Israeli Embassy, copied to the Foreign Office. In the letter, UNISON general secretary Dave Prentis condemns the "on-going action by the Israeli Defence Forces in Gaza" and urges both sides to agree to an immediate ceasefire. Mr. Prentis also requests that Israel opens the crossings into Gaza to allow humanitarian relief through. Branches are also encouraged to write to the embassy.
Westminster UNISON is encouraging all members to support the continuing protests throughout the country. A demonstration will take place tomorrow at 2pm (details below) and members are encouraged to attend and to circulate this information as widely as possible. Vigils are also being held every evening outside the Israeli Embassy, 2 Palace Green, London W8 4QB.
