REDUCTION IN SHOWER FACILITIES AT CITY HALL

1 November 2008, 1:59am
GREEN UNISON GREEN UNISON

Dominique Perrissin-Fabert, the Branch Health and Safety Officer writes to Director Leith Penny demanding answers to the reduction in shower facilities without consultation.

Dear Leith

Following a motion at AGM, Westminster UNISON successfully campaigned for improved showering facilities for staff. Some of these new facilities, which were installed only a few months ago, have now been taken away without consultation.

This action is at odds with a statement made by Cllr Steve Summers, Chair of Go Green, in the same week. Cllr Steve Summers told the Westminster reporter "We are committed to working with organisations in our community and taking the lead on combating climate change".

A key aim of the Go Green Travel Plan is to encourage greater use of sustainable travel modes for staff. Providing and improving shower and changing facilities is also stated as a clear key objective within the plan.

Widespread dissatisfaction exists amongst UNISON members who have been using these facilities.

Please can you confirm whether you were consulted prior to these facilities being removed and what action you propose to ensure this Go Green objective is achieved?

Yours sincerely

Dominique Perrissin-Fabert
